When Ginipic is in Dock mode, it is "glued" to one of the edges on your screen. When other applications are maximized they are automatically resized with Ginipic's window, thus allowing you to see both your workspace (PowerPoint, Photoshop, Word, etc.) and Ginipic. That way you can search for pictures without leaving your workspace, always referring back to your original work and staying in context.
The best part of Ginipic is its Simplicity. Once you've found a search result you want to use, all you have to do is drag-and-drop it from the "Preview" window wherever you want. Any application that accepts drag-and-drop will work with Ginipic. This allows you to use search results immediately, without having to first save the file and then importing it.
